  1. Start QuickBooks and select File from the menu.
  2. Select Save Copy or Backup from the options available.
  3. Then select Backup Copy and click Next.
  4. Then, you select Local Backup and click the Next button.
  5. Choose Save it Now, then click Next again.
  6. Select a location on the local drive, then click Save.
  7. Once the file has been saved locally, open the folder where you saved the company file.
  8. You will right-click the backup file you saved on your local drive and select copy.
  9. After that, open Windows Explorer and double-click on the flash drive or external drive where the backup file will be saved.
  10. Finally, press Ctrl+V on your keyboard to paste the backup file on the external drive.
